Ekstrom Library

University of Louisville

This project consisted of the renovation of more than half of the original library’s first and third floors into a more flexible, contemporary, and attractive space.  Individual and group study areas, the research department, and the writing lab were moved and reimagined. On the third floor, a large wall of windows, a reading room, and a are now dedicated to the graduate student area.

The entire floor is a quiet spot for study.

The engineering project scope included modifications to the existing HVAC system to accommodate significant ceiling changes, improving the availability of convenience receptacles for student devices, and the replacement of all project area lighting.

All new lighting is LED, and specifically designed and controlled to allow flexible use of the spaces through selective operation and dimming in individual areas
