Ralph Waldo Emerson School 58

Indianapolis Public Schools

The Ralph Waldo Emerson Indianapolis Public School 58 is a historic elementary school. It serves over 350 students from kindergarten to 6th grade. A portion of the school was demolished, and two new additions were constructed to house the administrative office and a new gymnasium. The school was vacated prior to the construction phase of the project and was configured to satisfy current IPS elementary school program requirements.

Loftus Engineering was responsible for the mechanical engineering for this project. This involved the installation of new HVAC and control systems throughout the school, to include the addition of cooling to the entire facility and the replacement of the steam heating system with a heating water system. In addition, replacement of the plumbing piping, fixtures and equipment, renovation of restroom facilities and installation of a new sprinkler fire protection system were performed.
