Purdue Wetherill Interaction Common

Purdue University

The goal of the project was to establish gathering and collaboration space for students and faculty interacting in the Wetherill Laboratory of Chemistry building. A variety of seating options, and an upgraded finish environment served to improve the space to draw interest.

Additionally, a popular piece of the project brought in a coffee shop café, to serve students waiting for the heavily-used WTHR 200 lecture hall.

The interior design called for a custom fabricated caffeine molecule to serve as the light source and focal point in the main entrance, above the grand staircase.

Loftus Engineering was responsible for the mechanical and electrical engineering, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical power, telecommunications, lighting and lighting controls.
