Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital

Outpatient Care Center

This project provided replacement facilities for the former Wishard Hospital, the public hospital serving the residents of Indianapolis and surrounding areas.  Five new buildings were constructed on a 37-acre site located near downtown Indianapolis.

The 6-story Outpatient Care Center serves as the clinic space for the campus, housing approximately 125 exam rooms and related functions.  It acts as the “front door” of the adjacent hospital, for the arrival of inpatients, outpatients and visitors.  Elevated walkways were constructed between the Outpatient Care Center, the parking garage and the Physicians' Office Building, facilitating travel between the buildings.

The project was designed and constructed under several bid packages, including site, structural, core and shell, major equipment procurement and build-out.  Specialized spaces in the facility include imaging, women's health, pediatric practice, an atrium and a roof garden.

Loftus Engineering was responsible for approximately 60 percent of the mechanical and electrical engineering of the HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and lighting, power and systems design for the Outpatient Care Center.

The overall campus project earned LEED Gold Certification.
